Hello! I’m Gracie. I started practicing yoga when I was 12 years old. I had heard lots about it from my aunt who is a yoga teacher and I had taken a few classes when I was younger. But the first time I really understood yoga, and what it had to offer me, was at that age of 12. What’s really awesome is that my first yoga teacher was Jenna Galloway, Wymbin’s founder. For me, yoga gave me a place where I could just be. It didn’t involve competition, which most active sports do. It allowed me to connect movement with stillness, which is exactly what I needed going into my teen years. As a kid, my mother taught me how to meditate and yoga was like a continuation of that. Every time I practiced, I felt genuinely better after. It gave me a place to be exactly how I felt in that moment.
As I grew into my practice, I became more aware of the effect of yoga on my life. I wanted every kid to be able to experience this magic. That’s when I decided to become a kids yoga teacher through Wymbin and to spread my love for this amazing movement.
My love for children has always been strong. I adore spending time with them. I remember being so excited to babysit for the first time! It brings me such joy to see chidlren’s curiosity, honesty and zest for life. My goal as a yoga teacher is to create a space where kids can feel safe to be who they are and to not feel like anything is expected from them. And of course to share my love of yoga, which will hopefully be passed onto them.
When I’m not on the mat, you can find me involved in various creative endeavour, tending to my honey bee hive or spending time in nature.
See you on the mat!
If you could be any superhero, who would you be?
I wouldn’t be a superhero, I’d be a fairy! My powers as a fairy would be that I could create a forest with the snap of my fingers and that I could breathe underwater.
What did you want to be growing up?
First I wanted to be a farmer, then a veterinarian. Now I want to go into art.
What is something every kid should know?
That they are loved. No matter what.
If you could transform into an animal, what would it be?
A porcelain crab. They have the biggest pinchers, but they’re actually vegetarian. Isn’t that cute?
