Born and raised in Calgary, I discovered yoga near the end of my competitive gymnastics career during a time when my body and mind desperately needed a break. After a few classes of holding my breath and fighting myself to do the postures “perfectly”, I felt a huge shift in my state of being. My body began to heal, I learned breathing was a thing (a big thing!), and finally…let go. Most importantly, I learned to stop taking myself so seriously!
I enjoyed the newfound stillness and peace in my mind so much I delved deeper into yoga taking my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga Passage in 2016 and my Kids + Youth Yoga Teacher Training with Wymbin in 2017.
Regardless of what I am doing or teaching, as a movement enthusiast, gymnastics coach, and yoga teacher, I believe mindfulness is an essential part of our experience that makes life so vibrant and colorful. I am so grateful to be a part of the Wymbin tribe where I can help inspire children to celebrate their uniqueness and become their best selves!
If you could be any superhero, who would it be and what powers would you have?
It would have to be Marvel superhero Meggan Puceanu. She can sense the earth’s natural rhythms and patterns. She has an ability called “empathy” where she can easily sense the emotions and feelings of living things around her and project her feelings onto them. She can shape shift into any living creature, and she can fly! She’s all-around awesome!
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was a kid I was consistently sure I wanted to be a kid forever! I thought adults frowned too much.
What should every kid know?
My favorite Road Dahl ever! “If you have good thoughts, then they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. “
If you could be any animal in the world who would you be?
Any kind of monkey! I think it would be fun to hangout in the trees like an orangutan, or possibly a spider monkey because of their prehensile tails!
