The coolest classroom for kids to
create, move + hang out!
I am an artist,
I am a scientist,
I am an explorer,
I am a Sankalpa kid!
Using intentionality and mindfulness as our guiding force, Sankalpa is a place where preschool-aged 3-5 children collaborate with teachers and each other to deepen their understanding of the world in which they live. Sankalpa advocates the young learner’s imagination, creativity, and enthusiasm to learn by providing conscious planning and a stimulating environment.
Young learners will build upon school readiness skills, such as communication, empathy, emotional regulation, self/spatial awareness, and teamwork. Students will determine what they learn about and will engage in in-depth studies of their topics of interest with the support of experienced teachers through Reggio Emilia inspired emergent curriculum, the arts, nature, and play.
This program is designed for children ages 3-5 and is a registered, ongoing preschool program that begins in the Fall and commences in the Spring. Children are able to enter the program throughout the year, provided there is space in the classroom and have been accepted to the program through our registration process. We have created our programming to follow and go above and beyond the Alberta government preschool curriculum.
Our program is Reggio based and we will be spending a lot of time in nature and outdoors to discover more about the world around us. Our students will participate in yoga classes, learn body-awareness and creatively express themselves through beautiful art activities and group play. Our students will also visit the Reading House once a month for a special literary field trip (located 2 blocks from the studio within walking distance).
